Taken on March 30, the USNS Comfort arrives into the Port of New York and will remain for the next 30 days. At the time, the duration of stay was unknown, but as cases of coronavirus across the city dropped, the ship was relieved of duty just a month later. Originally it planned to treat only non-Covid cases to relieve strain on hospitals, however toward the end the ship began accepting infected patients. This day of arrival was marked with crowds taking to the pier to watch the arrival. Camera crews and reporters also flooded the area to mark the first time the ship has returned since September 11, 2001. You can see the coast guard helicopter on the right circling the ship until the point of docking. Crowds cheered and police boats had their lights going. This arrival of the ship showed help was here, and that New York is not alone.
